Facial Balancing and Filler Injections
Facial contouring with Juvederm fillers in Newport Beach helps contour the face and restore lost volume due to aging process. They can also shape areas of the face to hide extra fat and signs of aging. They can also help with marionette lines and under-eye areas via personalized undereye filler.
Our plastic surgeon and plastic surgery experts at E&G Aesthetic Institute specialize in lip injections in Newport Beach and in facial balancing and facial rejuvenation with hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers.
Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance that is found in the body. HA absorbs water and helps to “plump” areas under the skin where you apply the filler. Juvederm Newport Beach and Restylane fillers contain hyaluronic acid (HA) and have FDA approval as injectable treatments to add volume and hydration. Lip fillers with Juvederm Ultra XC and Restylane Kysse are soft natural fillers that will help you reach your aesthetic goals.
Unlike hyaluronic acid based fillers, dermal fillers such as Radiesse and Sculptra are a different type of dermal filler. They are minimally invasive “biostimulatory fillers” that induce the production of increased collagen and elastin over time leading to improved skin quality in addition to volume restoration.

Frequently asked questions
What are fillers and how do they work?
HA dermal fillers are injectable “gel-like” substances made of hyaluronic acid commonly used in plastic surgery and for facial contouring and facial rejuvenation. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occuring substance found in the body and in the skin that delivers nutrients and helps the skin retain moisture and softness. Due to its hydrophilic properties ie “water loving” properties, hyaluronic acid adds volume by absorbing surrounding water to “plump up” the area improving fine lines, lines and wrinkles, and areas like marionette lines. When hyaluronic acid filler is injected under the skin, the filler adds precise volume that lasts for several months and with some fillers – years without being an invasive procedure.
Non-HA fillers like Sculptra and Radiesse are biostimulating injectable treatments that promote the gradual production of collagen via a series of treatments. Sculptra treatments are a great option for those seeking to improve skin quality and firm and tighten the skin without adding significant volume to their facial features. Radiesse is a more permanent option that can both enhance skin quality as well as restore volume and/or add definition to targeted areas for those seeking to combat signs of aging and the aging process. Both biostimulators typically last up to 2 years.

Who should avoid fillers?
You might be the ideal candidate for dermal fillers and injectables treatment if you’re seeking to enhance facial contours and facial features. If you are seeking to address signs of facial aging including “under eye bags”, the formation of fine lines and wrinkles, heavy “smile lines”, and/or are interested in restoring lost volume in your lips and cheeks for facial rejuvenation. Other treatment areas include the hands, jawline, nose, chin, marionette lines, and even the buttocks.
In contrast to more invasive cosmetic procedures, dermal fillers have minimal recovery time and can still improve signs of aging. Results are visible almost immediately after treatment with final outcomes usually being noticeable within 2 weeks. If you are a generally healthy individual who is looking to augment or define facial areas, the décolletage, hands and buttocks, this treatment is the right non-surgical solution for you.
Among other factors, you are NOT the right candidate for dermal fillers and hyaluronic acid if you have a history of an autoimmune condition, are pregnant or nursing, or are seeking a surgical outcome with non-invasive modalities.
To determine the type of dermal filler and if dermal fillers is the right treatment for you, consult our experienced injectors at E&G Aesthetic Institute for personalized recommendations and treatment plans. We are confident we can help you reach your aesthetic goals. Schedule a consultation today.

What are the side effects of filler? What should you avoid after fillers?
Some patients may have temporary side effects after getting dermal filler injections. This includes Sculptra, which uses poly-L-lactic acid to boost collagen. It also includes Radiesse made from calcium hydroxylapatite and fillers made of hyaluronic acid (HA).
Common side effects include redness, swelling, bruising, or tenderness at the injection site. These facial filler side effects typically subside within a few days.
More serious problems can happen after getting dermal fillers. These issues are less common. They can include lumps, unevenness, blocked blood vessels, or allergic reactions.
Things to avoid after filler injections include strenuous activity for a minimum of 3 days, make up application the same day of treatment (24 hours), vigorous massages to the treatment area for 2 weeks (unless instructed to do so by our experienced injectors), major dental work for 2 weeks (for lip filler), and avoidance of heated environments (saunas, steam rooms, etc) for 5-7 days.
To minimize bruising, you may apply arnica or apply ice to the dermal filler treatment areas. The type of dermal filler used may lead to more or less swelling after treatment. Our plastic surgery experts are here to answer any questions you may have after your filler procedures.
