VI Peels: AT A GLANCE
VI Peels are a type of chemical peel that uses a blend of ingredients, including TCA (trichloroacetic acid), Retin-A, salicylic acid, phenol, and vitamin C, to improve the tone, texture, and clarity of the skin. These peels are known for their ability to treat various skin concerns such as acne, hyperpigmentation, fine lines, and signs of aging.
The procedure involves the application of the chemical solution to the skin, which then penetrates the layers to exfoliate and stimulate new skin growth. Recovery typically involves a few days of redness and sensitivity, followed by peeling that usually starts around the third day and can last up to a week.
During this period, it’s crucial to follow post-peel care instructions, such as avoiding sun exposure, using gentle skincare products, and keeping the skin moisturized to ensure optimal healing and results.

When will I see results and how long do they last?
While frequency of peels depends on a patient’s individual factors, it is recommended that most patients wait four to six weeks between treatments. Noticeable results will be seen after a single treatment, but best results are seen after 3-6 treatments, spaced 4-6 weeks apart.
For maintenance treatments after the initial series, we recommend the Vi Peel 2-4 times per year, depending on your skin’s needs.
What are potential side effects?
Treatment site reactions typically consist mainly of short-term skin peeling and generally resolve within 2 to 4 weeks.
Rare but possible side effects may include but are not limited to:
-burning pain, skin discoloration, swelling, blistering, itchiness
-allergic reaction or infection
– dry skin, inflammation, redness,
and scarring
– PIH and folliculitis
What should I expect and what should I avoid afterwards?
The peel is self-neutralizing; do not wash off or apply any other products for at least 4 hours.
-Avoid use of topical products containing AHAs, Retinols, Vitamin A, or any type of exfoliant until the peeling process is complete.
-Strictly avoid direct sun exposure for at least one week. Apply VI Peel SPF 50+
-Avoid hot water, hot tubs, saunas, steam rooms, strenuous exercise, or excessive perspiration beginning the day of the peel and throughout the entire peel.
24 hours after the peel, and until the skin peeling is complete:
-Skin may be “tight” until it starts to peel.
-Peeling will generally begin 48 – 72 hours after the peel has been administered, and last for 2 – 5 days after the skin has started peeling.
-DO NOT PICK OR PULL THE SKIN. Allow the skin to peel at its own pace. (Premature peeling of the skin may develop into post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.)
Some patients may experience extreme dryness after treatment. Continue use of post care products provided and/or recommended by your expert provider from E&G Aesthetic Institute. Wait until the peeling process has completed before having any other facial procedures, including: facials, microdermabrasion, laser treatments, hair removal, and cosmetic injections.
