How Does Kybella Work?
KYBELLA® Newport Beach is the only FDA-approved injectable treatment designed to reduce fat in the submental ie “double chin” region.
Kybella is an injectable solution designed to diminish submental fat, often referred to as a double chin, by breaking down fat cells. The key component, deoxycholic acid, is a naturally found molecule that assists in fat absorption. Upon injection, Kybella disrupts the membranes of fat cells, prompting them to release their contents, which the body then naturally expels. This method permanently decreases the quantity of fat cells in the targeted region.
“Off-label”, it can also be used to reduce armpit fat, fat in the jowls, “bra-roll” fat, and other parts of the body.
Via a series of treatments, Kybella is a safe and effective treatment that destroys fat cells where injected and is great for those seeking to address targeted excess fat.
It contains synthetic deoxycholic acid, which mimics a naturally occurring molecule in the body that helps break down and absorb dietary fat. By injecting KYBELLA® into a targeted area especially under the chin and/or jowls, fat cells are destroyed, leading to a visible reduction in the treated area.
Once these cells are eliminated, they can no longer store or accumulate fat, reducing the need for further treatment once you achieve your desired aesthetic result. The amount of treatment sessions required vary among patients and is dependent on individual aesthetic goals, the amounts of fat, and specific area size.
